Our Services

Free Spay/Neuter

To best serve our clients we facilitate FREE Spay/Neuter for pets living in our Area of Focus. Our Area of Focus has been selected because nearly 40% of the people living in many of the neighborhoods live below the poverty level and cannot afford Spay/Neuter services.  We were recently awarded our fourth Spay/Neuter grant from the State of Maryland Department of Agriculture allowing us to facility FREE Spay/Neuter through 2018 in the following zip codes:  21202, 21205, 21213, 21224, 21231 (more…)

Free Transport

Unfortunately, free transport is a spay/neuter necessity for many living within our Area of Focus because most of our clients do not have reliable transportation.  With that in mind, CCC works to remove as many barriers to Spay/Neuter as possible, which includes providing free transportation to those in need.  We have provided transport for 99% of our first 550 surgeries. (more…)

Urgent Veterinary Visit

Every pet owner knows how stressful it can be when our pets get sick or injured. This can be especially taxing on those with limited income. Whenever funds allow, we try to eliminate the stress and help with urgent veterinary visits and transport for pets and their owners. We partner with a low-cost, quality provider of veterinary care in Baltimore City - Erdman Animal Hospital - to receive the compassionate care these pets deserve. (more…)

Free Vaccinations

Vaccinations are important! Of no surprise, people in underserved communities care deeply for their pets' health, but often do not have the means to provide them with the most effective care. CCC is committed to helping companion animals and their owners gain access to life-sustaining vaccinations. Currently we are able to provide free Rabies and Parvo/Distemper vaccines with spay/neuter surgeries.  We do not have funds or volunteer capacity to provide free vaccinations outside of this 'package'. (more…)

Free Leashes and Collars

Whenever possible, CCC offers owners free leashes and collars which are often safer and reliable than those being used, if any. The wrong type of leash or collar is usually affordable, that said, they're often the choice of those on shoestring budgets.  We find that if people have the appropriate collar and leash for their dogs in particular, they will walk them more often, making both pet and owner healthier and happier. (more…)

Respect and Kindness

The pillar of any relationship is mutual respect and kindness – without it, information can not be shared and doors close. When respect and trust are established, doors open, and for us this means people and their pets receive the help they deserve.  It is simple to exhibit these qualities when meeting people who are natural rescuers and are responsible for taking in and caring for thousands of pets in Baltimore City. We find this approach is effective in building relationships and expanding our mission. (more…)

Information Sharing

Why is Information Sharing so vital? Food Deserts, Pet Resource Deserts, and Information Deserts exist together. A core focus for CCC is to share information related to community health. Our research has shown that after best practices regarding spay/neuter and general pet wellness information is shared, people in underserved communities make great choices for their pets.  And it doesn't stop there.  Our clients help us spread helpful information like wild fire. A bit of information can go a long way and results in healthier, safer and stronger neighborhoods. (more…)

What our clients say

God Bless Charm City Companions!! … they came when I needed them. I rescued two cats off the street, had them in my house … neither of them spayed or neutered. They came by and helped me out with getting them fixed just in time!

SeSe is the best dog in the world, but lord knows I don’t need 10 of her. I was thinking about getting her spayed but I’m on a fixed income. Thanks Charm City Companions, you all are doing God’s work out here.

I started volunteering for Charm City Companion three weeks ago, and it’s changed my life. Seeing people who have so little remain positive and warm inspires me all week – I can’t wait to do outreach again on Saturday.
