Vaccinations are important! Of no surprise, people in underserved communities care deeply for their pets’ health, but often do not have the means to provide them with the most effective care. CCC is committed to helping companion animals and their owners gain access to life-sustaining vaccinations. Currently we are able to provide free Rabies and Parvo/Distemper vaccines with spay/neuter surgeries. We do not have funds or volunteer capacity to provide free vaccinations outside of this ‘package’.
Throughout the year we direct people to an incredible resource – BARCS – where a first come, first serve vaccine clinic takes place most first Saturdays of the month and provides low-cost vaccinations to owned pets. We also have another amazing partner – B-More Dog – that facilitates a free vaccine clinic one day a year in the heart of our Area of Focus – Ellwood Park. Through one of these resources the majority of pets in the areas we’ve worked are vaccinated, where only 15% were at the time we met each pet.
Charm City Companions (501c3, non-profit) is a community outreach initiative, modeled after The HSUS Pets for Life community outreach program making an impact in underserved communities across the country. We work with pet owners and the community at large to keep pets off the streets, out of shelters and in their homes with the companions they love. Through our work we help build healthier, safer and stronger communities.
